On this episode of Necessary Illusions I interview Artsy Marxist. She is a revolutionary artist that began painting murals at the age of twelve, and was commissioning artwork at sixteen, while working several other jobs. She studied language in China for two years after struggling with poverty and homelessness in the United States for over a decade. Artsy identifies as a communist, and she tries to incorporate working class themes into her artwork. She is an anti-capitalist and thinks a better world is possible. She enjoys creating oil and acrylic paintings in a combination of realist, surrealist and impressionist styles. On the podcast we discuss art, philosophy, politics, the educational system, climate change and revolution. 22 August 2023 – MC
